First impressions last…
A wedding invitation or Save The Date, sets the tone for your special day. You are giving your guests a glimpse of what is to come, a little sneak-peek.
Your invitation can tell a story of how you met, it can have a mixture of elements that represent the two of you, or just have your favourite colours or flowers. It can be formal and elegant or bold and colourful – whatever makes you tick, there is no right or wrong.
A bit about me…
Ever since choosing to go to a design agency for 3 days of work experience in high school (a loooong time ago), I have wanted to be a graphic designer. I went on to college, earned a degree in graphic design and have worked in small and medium design agencies since. I absolutely love what I do and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
In a nutshell, I love making beautiful things and that is why designing wedding stationery is one of my favourite things to do – what is more beautiful than a wedding day?
So where do we start…
Invitations can be a bit chicken and egg-ish – what comes first decor ideas & flowers or invitations? The answer? Either.
I have had brides come to me with their ideas of what decor and colours they want and we have designed wedding stationery to compliment that. I have also had brides come to me with very vague ideas and the stationery design has then gone on to shape the decor for the big day.
The wedding design – lets call it your brand – can be applied to so many different parts of your wedding – Save The Dates, invitations, order of service, seating plan, table numbers, place cards, menus, thank you cards, even cake toppers and a photo booth. Just like branding for a business, your wedding stationery should be consistent to have the maximum effect and pull everything together.
How I like to work…
The first step after the initial contact, is to discuss things like concepts, what is needed and budget. I have a range of different design packages to suit everyones pocket and I can handle all of the print for you or you can source that yourself.
Once a budget has been agreed, we can get to the fun part!
To make things easy and clear, I will send a briefing email for you to complete (don’t worry it’s not as complicated as it sounds) and ask that you send over any ideas that you have and all the information ie: dates, names, times etc. This helps to make sure we are all on the same page and have the correct details.
We will get started on the Save The Dates – if you are having one – and the invitations. I will send you back a few concepts and we can then refine the design. The number of concepts and rounds of amends depends on what budget was agreed.
When the design is done and everyone is happy, I will ask you to do a final approval for me. This means, double and triple checking that all spelling, dates, times and addresses are correct. From there, I can release the artwork to you for printing or I will have them printed and delivered.
And Voila – beautiful wedding stationery.
